RISE AND FALL Deceiver 7" REVIEW

For those who don't know RISE AND FALL is making a new record and Deathwishinc. have just released a teaser 7" with one song of the upcoming album called "Deceiver" and one very very special track that is the reason I make this post in general.
There are several thing that need to be said about this song "Sinking In Sin". Firstly it is actually a cover of a song that is on the classic and legendary H8000 album 'The Blackened Persistence' by the band CONGRESS. Rise And Fall chose this song because the felt it's appropriate to how they feel nowadays, I read this in a recent interview they did for Some Will Never Know web- and paperzine.
Another thing that needs to be said is that 2 of H8000's godfathers did backing-vocals in the recording. On a sidenote I'd like to say that I've never heard such evil laughter in the background. But actually these back-ups are kinda putting all the pieces of the puzzle together. Namely Hans and Josh are the musicians and people that founded the H8000 scene so also formed Rise And Fall as what they are nowadays to an extent so their H8000 background is also figural present in the music of that song. Very symbolic those backingvocals to say at least: their cultural, musical background embodied by Hans' and Josh's backingvocals. So inviting them to sing along was a very good idea.
Thirdly I'd like to say that when I compare both versions, I really don't know which one's better. Both have charms, the original version is darker, more angry but the cover version has really done justice to the song. The intro has something touching but it is kinda touching also that both godfathers back Rise And Fall proudly and respectfully.
About the music; they added a new melody to the already existing intro-melody and both flow over in each other. Towards the end of this intro the viciousness crawls in the song, kick-starting the edge-metal trademark sound in full effect. While respecting the song Rise and Fall keeps their raging straight-forward character just until that evil laughter slows it down and brings it in an intermezzo to build up tension again with Josh's backing -while Bjorn screams mercilessly the awesome lyrics- To a hardcore influenced chugga chugga and then bringing back in the blistering metal towards the end!

Obviously I ordered all three colors straight from Deathwishinc.! The CLEAR is quite rare to their standards, 330 made only. The other colors are GREY (/770) and WHITE (/1100). And here's a picture:

I'd say do yourself a favor and listen to the song on youtube and order from the label to get this.

I case you don't have the lyrics:

Dark clouds are packing, witness the wrath of God
Rain is pouring on our heads like needles

The wind is cutting on our face
The bitter taste of our enemies
Rotting away in the bowels of humanity

I sink, I'm sinking down
But I won't drown in this stream

We already died when we fell
Before we crashed onto the concrete
Sucking those nipples one time to many
Exhausted remains are falling apart
The flow is washing away our sins
To start all over again in an empty womb

When all wounds are healed
we just have to rip them open again
Pouring salt into this leaks
Scratching fingers fresh, cold, numb
The bleeding finally stopped
But the pain will never end
Starving naked before god's eyes
Father laughs, our mother dies

What's In My Closet??

No, I didn't turn gay, but I do gonna brag about what's in my closet like a girl! As you can understand this post isn't records but about ultra-limited merchandise printed for Good Life Recordings probably by Toxic Merch. I guess this because of the quality Fruit Of The Loom brand....

In case you have been sleeping on the moon, you missed out on three fabulous designs all made by beatdown artists for beatdown bands! Anyway it are exiting times again at good life because of the flourishing of that scene. So here's a crewneck that tells a whole lot about us, where we are at and what we stand for:

The already famous and classic artwork from the CD

A New
Movement
Is On The Rise
And We Are
Here To
Document It

Before you say anything about it, please add that this out of 10 copies only! Now that's really limited, right!?

The next piece of cotton that printed is my first SIX FEET DITCH Merchandise, one that I actually like and would wear. Also ultra limited and in two colors (black and beige):

49 pieces only for the T-Shirt

Know that this brings back the g(l)ory amongst the Good Life customers, because the crewneck sold out in a jiffy! Not that difficult since it's a cool design and secondly limited to 10 also!

And lastly a shirt that will get highly sought after, the first TOO GROSS merchandise! Referring to a place we all either fear or either belong too: STATE HOME FOR THE UGLY... (just kidding).

15 copies through mailorder only

Anyway TOO GROSS is promisingly the new sh*t, because all members have a noteworthy beatdown background! Anyway it has one of my favorite vocalists on the microphone, Peachey! Read more about and listen soon to this band here! Also check this if you are unfamiliar with Peachey.

So thanks to all those who got linked up in this post also!!!

New Breed Tape Compilation REISSUE (NYHC)

Today's entry is about a sweet and very interesting double LP I ordered from the Good Life distribution center. It's a previously underground and almost forgotten TAPE compilation chock-full of New York Hardcore rarities, that 22 years later made it on CD and vinyl! How cool the ways of Hardcore can be... Here's the awesome cover:

This package has been taken care of. And it proofs that every effort, even an underrated Tape and non-Revelation compilation from the year 1989 gets the attention it deserves by being printed on CD and LP. I chose to buy the vinyl format, because that's a beautiful way of presenting music and because it has more songs than the CD! It's more expensive, but worth the money.

Comes with a booklet with lyrics and graffiti inspired artwork of the bands and also a second insert sketching multicultural society in NEW YORK way back in  1989. This tape, they say was for the middle class streetkids. There seemed to grow a lack of unity while the older bands like YOUTH OF TODAY morphed into Shelter (embracing Krishna) and the Straight-edge also lost his attractiveness for the new kids. So that they formed and listened to new bands. Hence the name New Breed...

It are real insightful and interesting observations that BRIAN DEMOA did and wrote here on the insert in 2011. It seems that knowledge needs it time to grow and to become transferable...

Anyway if you are into NYC hardcore or into hardcore in general, you need this CD/2LP!

Beatdown Wax: PROVIDENCE - KING OF CLUBZ

While I was trying to stimulate labels and bands to release on vinyl too in a previous post, I realized that I already had a pure piece of Beatdown on 7 inches of black wax. Namely On The Attack Records released also a 7" with two Beatdown bands; the Paris band PROVIDENCE and the USA band KING OF CLUBZ.

I really like the color-scheme of the artwork and the drawing itself isn't bad too. It's done by the vocalist of Providence, for whom I'm doing some scans of records I have...

About the music, well you can definitely hear that King Of Clubz has the rich and intense American hardcore history behind them. PROVIDENCE sounds more minimalistic and pure like most European Beatdown bands. And I'm into that purity and minimalism.

BLIND TO FAITH - Gehenna 7"

Sorry about my tone in the previous post but I really think it's important. Sweet little record we have here, nothing that special but it's a Belgian/American band split 7" and first of all BLIND TO FAITH. The BTF-side brings us two new tracks that aren't on the LP. And has backing-vocals by Stephen of European fame and dominance Kickback. The only minus I can think of are these ridiculous werewolves at the beginning of the song "R.J." Someone please erase that from the 7" and would be perfect...

Anyway we have here the pre-order version on GOLD wax but it's a weird fact that Dom from a389 Records is keeping the pressing info off-line:

blind to faith gehenna split 7 inch a389 record gold vinyl pre order
Blind To Faith Side: 2 songs
The American band that's on the flipside is GEHENNA! And this is the cover of the record:

blind to faith gehenna split 7 inch pre order gold vinyl color limited
Szymon Siech ARTWORK
Check Szymon Siech's facebook page and like BLIND TO FAITH and this artist! For those who don't know BTF is a Belgian Hardcore Holy Terror superband with members of RISE AND FALL, REPROACH, AMENRA.

Exists also on this more common colorway:

BULLDOZE Arrived In Hardcore History!

What defined and originated that wave of beatdown bands that is believed to be on the rise in the hardcore landscape is this band called BULLDOZE. So if you really think this is setting new standards in Hardcore then I think you should release that music on the vinylformat! At least if you take yourself and your vision about Beatdown seriously. I mean what kind of format is more appropriate and respected by collectors as vinyl and definitely not CD's. I mean common, if you want to document that movement, bring it in history and want it to stay than make a decent vinyl release instead of a CD. Is that so hard to understand.

But anyway someone seems to have understood it finally and released that originator piece of music on vinyl! THANK YOU !!

Here how it looks, is presented and how it will be classified in Hardcore history:

Diamond CLEAR vinyl

bulldoze the final beatdown vinyl lp pressing clear color
excellent choice of colorscheme

bulldoze LP the year is one trip machine laboratories clear vinyl
The Year Is One Records as label under TRIP MACHINE LABORATORIES license

Limited out of 500 and numbered

As you can see, perfectly done! Numbered on the sleeve and everything! Colored vinyl that looks as clear as a diamond, in short I love it!! And hope my message is as clear as the vinyl!

STICK TOGETHER No More Games...

While many people are posting the USA version of this record, I got the CONTROL RECORDS version. Which is a better limited version because it's numbered and came with DIY stickers also. So I thought I should post some pictures because peeps might think it doesn't exist because of the silence around it.

What makes youtcrew good is the general truths they spread, and everybody needs to stick together with somebody, the one with more than one person and the other with few people. So the band name is a general truth also and it sound like a commandment but they are right; just STICK TOGETHER and stop those games of power, lies, betrayal, money making, etc. Just be the real you.... and NO MORE GAMES!

Just another fine truth-bearing record from Geert of CONTROL RECORDS! Really hope they are just taking a break after all that releasing and NOT calling it quits.

Not really SPINELESS doubles!

I've found two SPINELESS releases on SOBERMIND records from which I thought they were going to be just doubles. But actually it are different versions.
Firstly a promotional copy out of 35 of the Spineless full length. The copy is also a one of a kind as you can see... Very beautiful result!

spineless a talk between me and the stars LP purple vinyl transitional promo sober mind

So there are numbered copies (numbered with stamp) but obviously copies like this one also. We can assume that the numbered copies are out of 35 and that this is exact. BUT this copy says "Promo / 35". So can we assume that there are an additional 35 promo copies as this writing says?

Or is the stamping and / or writing misleading us?

But there is another SPINELESS record, that I already have but my copy was not numbered, so it's a different version also and not a double...

Although I do think numbering a record on the insert is kinda tricky..

What's In The Box? (H8000 Book shizzle)

Past Thursday I trustfully received from Ed Good Life this box:

No wine for sure but all things cotton I need to document for the H8000 Book.

An amazing job I need to do for Edward, Hans and the world who loves H8000 Hardcore! Very honored for sure, because what's in it are nothing but one of a kind items that belonged to the man himself.

But that's not all, the first thing that came out of the box was not a piece of garment but was the original NATIONS ON FIRE banner that hung behind them on shows!

NO picture because people tend to steal them without my permission, so that's the consequence of your behavior and what you deserve! You'll have to buy the book to see it!

Another thing I was trusted is to wash those old items so that they are in perfect shape for showing in the H8000 Book! Therefore I bought this:

Ecologically OK as always!

Because the white ones will need it for sure:

PS: @Edward:  Don't worry about your precious shizzle, will follow the manual of the product, no bleach involved!!

Did you know this? (Classic ART Content)

As you can see I changed my avatar, NOT based on the Rival Mob 7" from Six Feet Under Records! BUT based on the PAINTING from from the Antwerp painter PIETER PAUL RUBENS!

Tijgerjacht (year 1616 )

The rich cultural history of the South-Netherlands (Flanders) seemed to inspire the SFU label-owner for this record:

Should I Still Collect TUI and Reaper?

I remember the fact that when ONE LIFE CREW started a fight with a kid during a show in the 90's they immediately got kicked off their label VICTORY RECORDS.

Well, I am saying this because the Internet news from a while ago let us know that TUI's singer actually did the same. But REAPER still supports them and released their sophomore LP "Big Kiss Goodnight".

Another thing is that I collect REAPER RECORDS stuff and that I don't really believe of justify the explanation TUI's vocalist gave.

So the question rises, should I still collect REAPER RECORDS stuff, because I truly believe kids are the lifeblood of Hardcore and Beatdown and should be treated with respect...

But another fact is that this new Trapped Under Ice record sound equally sick! And I mean sick in the negative sense of the word like insane...

I don't support Trapped Under Ice no more because of that and really think the world went to easy over that fact, but should I sell the rest of the REAPER collection??? This question still puzzles me...

FLANDERSFURY does NOT support violence towards kids from artists!
