ALL OUT WAR Reissue Package

Last week I ordered something I wasn't knowing about totally. It seems that the exemplary label who does the INTEGRITY reissues had plans earlier I was totally unaware about. But all of a sudden while browsing the Good Life webstore I saw that the legendary and my most favorite ALL OUT WAR record had been reissued. I was totally surprised and decided to look up more deeply what was going on.

After doing some research on the internet it seemed that ORGANISED CRIME records had repressed this ultimate 90's classic on three colors. But what was even more cool was that they had them still available even in a limited numbered edition. But what struck me even more was that they also created a 10 inch record with the 1992 demo songs on it. And as if that wasn't enough they also had a Holy Terror split project in the Rot In Hell / Vegas split 6 INCH. Yes, no typo, 6 INCH!

So I needed no further arguments to order this all in a pre-order package. And 3 workdays later it arrived which is also something that I never had before, records being shipped from the USA on 11th of May and arriving the 15th of May with a weekend in between. This is a 2 to 3 weekdays, I-N-C-R-E-D-I-B-L-E !

Well apart from that lets get to the point:

the pre-order package: 4 limited records
12" ALL OUT WAR Truth In The Age Of Lies
10" ALL OUT WAR 1992 demos
7" THE KILLER Obey No One
6" ROT IN HELL / VEGAS split
The one I'm most exited about is the 10 Inch with the demos, let's have a look:

all out war demo 1992 10 inch vinyl red
Screenprinted thick red paper and red vinyl

5 songs on the 1992 demo:
"Destined To Burn"
"Struggle Within"
"Fall From Grace"
"Stuck Inside"
"Day Of Judgement"
handnumbered 022 / 165

Never heard these tracks so I will be listening to the download that came with it...

Second most exciting thing is the split 6 inch from two awesome Holy Terror bands:

vegas rot in hell 6 inch red vinyl
ROT IN HELL cover / VEGAS centerlabel
VEGAS cover / ROT IN HELL centerlabel
Also came with a download, so I won't be playing it. It is out of 200 copies only... (300 more on Yellow, which make it 500 in total...

Then ofcourse the ALL OUT WAR debut LP called "Truth In The Age Of Lies". Also the most limited color and numbered. But I have the original on black, yes there's also a colored version of the Old Guy pressing. Namely the pressing on GAIN GROUND Japan instead of Germany. It's an awesome LP yes,but I have the original so it's merely a reissue, but looks sweet in that gatefold sleeve...

numbered on the dustsleeve 022 / 159
Note that the numbering coincides with the 10 inch (both 022), though there seem to be 6 less copies!
And lastly the 7 inch from THE KILLER on smoke vinyl.

To be kind; there are still some packages available in their webstore at this moment! If you are a kid and don't know ALL OUT WAR I suggest you buy this reissue whether on vinyl or CD. Because AOW are THE pioneers of the "death"-thing mixed into hardcore. Back then this was ultra-heavy. I saw them live at Dour Festival in the late 90's together with Vitality and it was awesome...

COLD WORLD / WAR HUNGRY Split 7"

Another 7" for the collection. Seems like lately all i've been purchasing and reviewing are 7"s. This time it's a classic reissue of the split EP by COLD WORLD and WAR HUNGRY. Orginally released in 2006 on SIX FEET UNDER RECORDS and reissued last year. Being one of SFU's first releases and since the original release was already long sold out, they gave it another run.

Smile

This reissue is merely a remastered version of the previous release with new artwork,
fold out coverart depicting both bands by the means of some mean portraits. Additional bonus is that
COLD WORLD added an extra track to their side to balance the numbers on both sides.

Mugshots of COLD WORLD

The COLD WORLD side features "Gods And Earths" and freshly new cut track "A-Alikes". Both featuring nicely executed hardcore with a dash of Hip Hop flavor by these Pennsylvanians. They even give a nudge to the Wu Tang Clan between two songs assisted by a beat and some girl scandalizing 'Cold World Mothafucka!!! '.

War Hungry

The B side is for Wilkes-Barre best export product, WAR HUNGRY, Penn State all the way on this split 7". This time a more a layer of stoner is laid across the hardcore grooves. "The Hand That Feeds" and "Final Hour" are more of the kind of music i prefer on this split 7", so i'm guessing this will get more coverage than the COLD WORLD side. Dirty chugging guitars do it for me, especially if they sound as fat as on Final Hour, the whole Pirates of the Caribbean djingle in the middle of the song is even a bit offbeat to me.

So another fine reissue of the mighty Pennsylvanian bands. This one comes on white vinyl as shown below
and also avalaible in black vinyl.

WAR HUNGRY side

Centerlabels are still the same as in the original 2006 release, only this time in full color.
This split 7" is up to his fourth pressing now and still remains great. For the collectors here's some info
on the previous versions, Click Here.

Good luck finding all those versions.

Good Life and Sober Mind Release Posters

The post isn't about records but about posters promoting these records. I have myself a small collection of GOOD LIFE RECORDINGS and SOBER MIND RECORDS releases. And these things are despite their not mint condition dear to me and would like to share them to those who also get sweet memories from that period they hung on your wall or your friends' bedroom wall. Or those who never saw these before are also invited to sniff the late late 90's atmosphere by seeing them here.

First one is the CULTURE / KINDRED European Tour poster made by Good Life Recordings:

culture kindred good life recordings poster promotional

Second is from 1998 promoting the Good Life Releases and with the agenda of that year beneath, looking at those Nike Air Max shoes makes the bandname SPORTSWEAR logical. Who didn't wear Nike back then? And how diverse was the GLR roster back then, very divers....

Thirdly we have the release poster for the KINDRED "File 01" LP/CD, a beaten but still very sweet looking:

kindred file 01 one lp promotional poster

Then three promo posters for SOBER MIND RECORDS releases:

BLINDFOLD "Live at Vort'n Vis" LP promo-poster

blindfold live at vortn vis lp promotional poster sober mind records

And the youngsters of SPINELESS also got a promotional poster for the release of "A Talk Between Me And The Stars" LP/CD. Notice the two different covers as usual for SMR releases!

spineless a talk between me and the stars painfields promotional poster sober mind

And finally the release poster of the SEKTOR "Human Spots Of Rust" LP/CD. And that's a cool one with the bandmembers somewhere in it, but not so recognisable. Click to enlarge or view in different window...

Record Store Day Giveaway @ VINYLNOIZE

Since our colleagues at Vinylnoize are working there asses off to bring you a daily digest / selection of records that are for sale on eBay and do this for free and for everyone who is interested, I decided to show them some love. As part of their promotional campaign they are giving away a free record from the Record Store Day pressings of Hardcore records for those who show them some love on their own site. I've already done this a while ago here. And feature a feed link to Vinylnoize on my site too.

Since I haven't got any decent recordstores in my neighborhood I wanted to enter this competition so maybe I'd be able to participate in having one of the RSD reissues from these classic hardcore records, without having to pay flippers on eBay.

That's what I call a possible WIN-WIN situation...

H2O, Don't Forget Your Roots, the singles collection

Don't Forget Your Roots,
that's the name of the covers album that NY's finest H2O released in 2011 upon the hardcore world.
The band formed out of an ex SOIA roadie( Toby Morse), his brother and some friends decided it was their quest to teach modern day hardcore kids what it's all about by playing all those songs that influenced them and formed the base for their output of music. 15 tracks of classic covers of some of the greatest hardcore punk bands ever, including DESCENDENTS, RANCID, MADBALL, SOIA,....

The great Amercian Hardcore Punk cities

All this madness was released at the end of last year by BRIDGE NINE RECORDS on five different versions,
A solid 12" record that was available in four different colours, being black, red, purple and white, and all came with the same artwork featuring the band playing a show depicted in some comic book style.
But a few weeks prior to that release a series of EP's saw the light, three different versions containing tracks of the upcoming full album. Each version containing three tracks of bands hailing from their respective titles. NYC, DC and California.

Three scenes, three colours
13/09/2011 the first EP was released to the eager masses of collectors and musiclovers. Featuring the sunny tunes of Californian bands such as CIRCLE JERKS, RANCID and SOCIAL DISTORTION. Brought in a a radiant yellow with according artwork depicting some of Cali's finest bands.

California
References to RANCID, FLIPPER, DESCENDENTS, CIRCLE JERKS and many more can be discovered on the artwork while listening to these sweet punky tunes by the westcoast godfathers. All three tracks are getting served with a special NYHC layer added by the performers.

Flyers featuring the coverd bands
My personal favorite here is the Rancid cover of Journey To The East Bay. It ain't Tim Armstrong's cheesegrater vocals, but that would be hard to beat, still Toby and crew take control of this song and make it their own.
Pressed on Cali sunshine vinyl

On 18/10/2011 the next leg of the trilogy expanded as a tribute to NYHC, the name of this release is NEW YORK CITY and demonstratin' their style are CRO-MAGS, SICK OF IT ALL and MADBALL.

NYHC's finest representing the five boroughs
On the albumcover it's another nod to the great of the NY scene, Joey Ramone overlooking the whole CBGB building as the moon goes MADBALL, other NYHC legends can be spotted in here. I've got the green version of this vinyl, but more on that later during the pressing info.

DMS

Hard Times by the CRO-MAGS is the first east coast classic to get the H2O treatment on NYC. Next up is
a track by Toby's former bosses SOIA named Friends Like You. H2O covering NY styled bands comes pretty easy to these guys so no big news on these covers so far. Pride by MADBALL fills the B side of this EP.

The title speaks for itself

To finish this warmup round of releases prior to the full album BRIDGE NINE RECORDS released the last chapter on 28/102011. This time it was Washington DC and the corresponding scene that got paid respect.
I'm talking DAG NASTY, EMBRACE and GOVERMENT ISSUE getting political in the US political capitol.

Lightning hits Capitol Hill once again
Capitol Hill is the setting for the DC albumcover, lightning strikes in resemblance to the mighty BAD BRAINS imagery, the MINOR THREAT black sheep is present and accompanied by other DC based bands such as SCREAM and SWIZ.

District of Columbia represents

A very well done cover of the  DAG NASTY classic Safe can be heard here, along with other great versions of Said Gun by EMBRACE and Understand by GOVERMENT ISSUE.

Georgetown punks and friends
So now let's get into the numbers. As said earlier all these songs appeared on a full album named Don't Forget Your Roots. This one comes in four variants and i haven't found pressing info on this one.
What i can share are the numbers to the EP releases. The California release has been released on 1000 clear opaque yellow ( as mine), 600 on opaque pink, 300 on opaque baby blue and an exclusive tour release of 100 on clear.
New York City holds the same numbers and variants but the colours here are a 1000 on solid orange, 600 on solid green ( as mine), 300 on solid gray and another 100 tour releases only on clear.
The DC version is once again 1000 on clear red ( as mine), 600 on white, 300 clear blue and a touredition on 100 on clear.

From coast to coast

These three EP's hold 9 of the 15 songs that appear on the full album Don't Forget Your Roots.
The idea of splitting them up into the hometowns of the residence of the different bands covered proved a great idea. It gives the listener a preview to the great bands representing those legendary scenes.
All classic songs that are being brought to attention by contempary hardcore legends showing their respect to the generations before them. Displaying a map of american hardcore punk throughout his history, only this time beefed up with a H20 NYHC touch. You can't hide that New Yawk accent, Yankee.

7.17 Compilation

On the sabbath of 7/17/2010 the FEAST OF THE HOLY TERROR CHURCH OF FINAL JUDGMENT was held in Anaheim which hosted amidst others the gathering of four groups of clergymen affiliated with the church. On stage INTEGRITY, VVEGAS, GEHENNA and UNREAL CITY performed their diabolical arts to evoke the audience into facing the reality of our world and it's inhibants.
As to commemorate this event HELLFISH RECORDS decided to bring out a limited run of 300 EP's featuring the aforementioned bands each playing one song. The 7" was baptised 7.17 alluding to the date these events occurred.

Black cover with silver artwork screened on and  7.17 in the top richt corner

VVEGAS kicks off this (serial) killer party with a track named 'Verklingen', a cover song from the well known song 'Fading away' by INTEGRITY. Brutal, agonizing sounds that pay hommage to the masters of HOLY TERROR.
The mysterious GEHENNA has the next slot on this devilish dervish of a record. With 'I'll Always Say Forever', a slow sludgy track that swells on as it goes along, the narrator guides you through speaking his mind and thoughts out to those who need to hear it.

They know who they are

On the 'Vampiric' side of the record we've got UNREAL CITY. Starting very slowly, to fully explode when the guitar kicks in. Clevo hardcore oozes of this one. Great song by the current INTEGRITY guitar player Robert ORR.
INTEGRITY has the honour and privilige to be the last to preach their teachings on this registration of that Feast in California on that magic
7.17. '+Orrchida' features the fingerfury of Robert ORR on guitar. His fast intense guitarlicks add that extra touch to Dwid's throat. Four tracks by four of the most notorious representatives of the HOLY TERROR CHURCH OF FINAL JUDMENT.

Feast of The Holy Terror Church of Final Judgment

Three different versions of the release hit the market. The first version was a black 7" with the black albumsleeve and red screenprinted artwork. This was the version exclusive for sale at the show on 7.17 and comes on a 100 pieces. The second version features a black cover with white screened artwork and comes with a black vinyl. A HELLFISH RECORDS mailorder only and as added gift a ziplock bag holding 5 buttons, 4 of the involved bands and 1 extra for the FEAST.
The last version is released on 100 records that got distributed amidst the actors of this play. Black albumcover again with silver screened artwork. And the most beautiful green vinyl i witnessed up untill now.

Vampire bat

The discussed record here comes from the VVEGAS vault and is one of 10 as shown on the stamped sleeve. The screenprinted artwork on a black background works fine here. The silver screened artwork of creatures amidst a sea of snakes, with typical HOLY TERROR reference and symbolism, completes the atmosphere to this release. The recordlabels hold the necessary info on the A side and the B side is decorated with a nice little bat made famous by MÖTLEY CRÜE back in the days.

000029 out of 300

A special boxset version was created by screenprinting a 7" mailer with the albumartwork and holds the three versions tied down with a piece of twine string and complimentary zip lock bag. Only 12 of these boxsets have been unleashed upon our demised world.

The VVEGAS edition out of 10
Another fine piece of art to add to my collection. Four great tracks by the four horsemen of the apocalypse.
Let the world end today but untill then i'm playing this compilation over and over while awaiting the event that was prophecied on 7.17.10.
